                       Water News:

Hello fellow Rainwater harvesters! A lot has been happening here at Dripping Rainwater! Over the years, we have made connections with some pretty cool folks in the conservation community and here is the space where we are spreading the good word about important topics, such as enviromental sustainability, and the increasing issues about water availability and quality in our area.

This year has proved to be fruitful in the amount of rain we have received so far. Everything seems to be glowing with green and the native grasses and plants look to be flourishing. As we have been lucky to see such improvement, this is not everlasting in the Texas summer climate. We are in the months where water becomes the most scarce, and we need to be proactive as a community to conserve as much water as possible.

A great first step to conserving more water is to limit the amount of water used for landscaping. More than two thirds of the groundwater pumped from the Edwards Trinity Aquifer is for irrigation. Education on proper water usage would be incredibly beneficial to our community and the surrounding areas. Both installing a rainwater system and the implementation of planting more drought-resistant, native plants are great ways to do your part for the community. Till next time!
