Permitting note
Inside Wimberley city limits the city issues building and plumbing permits under its adopted residential code. Much of the Wimberley Valley sits outside those limits, where Hays County's development permit applies instead — worth establishing which side of that line a property falls on early.

Local conditions
The Wimberley Valley runs on a mix of sources. Parts of town and Woodcreek have a utility connection; across most of the surrounding valley there isn't one, and property owners are on the Trinity Aquifer, on collected rainwater, or on both. Trinity wells here are notoriously uneven — neighbors a few hundred yards apart can get very different yields — and the Blanco River watershed swings hard between flood and drought. Rainwater is the predictable half of that equation, which is why it shows up as the primary supply here rather than as a supplement.
